Personal Mepis mods

Need to make the following changes to Mepis post-install:

/etc/profile (add):

[ -n “$TTY” ] && PS1=”\[\]\u@$TTY[\W]\\$\[\] ” || PS1=”\[\][\W]\u\[\] ”

[ -f /tmp/profile ] && export PROFILE=`cat /tmp/profile`;
export PRINTER=me

#SET SOME NICE DEFAULTS (jwt):

export ATERMARGS=”-fade 66 -shading 50 -tr -trsb -sr -st -sl 2000 -bg black -fg green -fn $XTERMFONT -sb”

/etc/menu-methods/menu-xdg (comment out 1 line):

#SEE: http://www.mepislovers.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=3643&forum=9
#JWT prerun = “rm -rf ” prefix() “/*”;

/etc/modutils/aliases (uncomment following):

alias net-pf-5 off # DDP / appletalk
alias net-pf-6 off # Amateur Radio NET/ROM
alias net-pf-10 off # IPv6
alias net-pf-11 off # ROSE / Amateur Radio X.25 PLP

/etc/bashrc (add):

function cd () { builtin cd $1 >/dev/null 2>&1 || builtin cd “$1″; echo $PWD >~/.cdout; shift; }

export CLIPBOARD_FID=/tmp/clipboard

/etc/modules (add):

fuse

/etc/hotkeys.conf (add):

Kbd=c800
WebBrowser=mozilla

/etc/sysctl.conf (add):

PS1=’`uname -n`:$PWD>’

export BROWSER=”/usr/local/bin/swiftfox”
export MAILER=”/usr/bin/mozilla-thunderbird”

/etc/X11/imwheel/imwheelrc (replace with this):

“mgdiff”

/usr/lib/perl5/auto/Tk/Wm/Post.al (modify):

$w->raise if ($ENV{DESKTOP_SESSION} =~ /kde/i); #JWT.

/usr/share/gs-esp/7.07/lib/Fontmap.GS (add just after the “/Dingbats line” approx. 131l):

/Extra (atm3270.ttf) ;
% /Arial (arial.ttf) ;
% /Arial-Bold (arialbd.ttf) ;
% /Arial-Italic (ariali.ttf) ;
% /Arial-Bold-Italic (arialbi.ttf) ;
/LucidaConsole (lucon.ttf) ;

NOTE: Ghostscript 8 no longer allows paths in above parenthesised font filenames, so had to also do:

sudo ln -s /usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts/lucon.ttf lucon.ttf
sudo ln -s /usr/share/fonts/truetype/freefont/atm3270.ttf atm3270.ttf

You also need to first copy these files to the appropriate directories first and
run the ttmkfdir command in those directories.

/usr/share/gs-esp/7.07/a2x.ps (comment out at 230l):

% JWT – HAD TO REMOVE NEXT 4 LINES TO GET TRUETYPE FONTS TO WORK, NOW MUST
% CONVERT TABS TO SPACES IN THE TEXT FIRST! 😦
% target pos 3 -1 roll % target pos source
% putinterval % —
% target % target
% /Untab load 1 true put end

Kaffeine:

Change audio setting from “auto” to “alsa” 2 hear anything (depreciated).

Also need /usr/X11R6/include/X11/pixmaps/* and
/usr/share/afterstep/backgrounds/*
/usr/share/hotkeys/c800.def
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/freefont/atm* and lucon*

Modules 2 install:

i8kmon
imwheel

normalize
sox
wmpower (compile – 1st install x11-devel)
xosview

To speed up firefox, go to: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=189192/
and get “SwiftFox”. Untar it in /usr/lib/ and add symlink in /usr/local/bin to swiftfox.
